First Tee San Joaquin Tees Up a Full Year of Youth Golf, Camps and Tournaments

First Tee San Joaquin is preparing for a busy 2026 season filled with youth golf camps, family-friendly tournaments, seasonal tours and opportunities for kids and teens to build confidence both on and off the course.

The organization announced its 2026 programming schedule, which begins with the Spring Wrap-Up Tournament, an Adult/Child Scramble set for Saturday, May 30 at Swenson Park, with a 2 p.m. shotgun start. The year will continue with summer camps, tournament events, a fall tour, and a winter league designed to keep young golfers learning, competing and growing throughout the year.

First Tee San Joaquin is part of the national First Tee youth development program, which uses golf as a way to teach life skills, character development and perseverance. Through the game, participants learn lessons that go far beyond the fairway, including responsibility, confidence, respect and resilience.

“We are excited about our upcoming events and tours,” said Chris Borrego, CEO of First Tee San Joaquin. “We want to build Game Changers by empowering kids and teens through golf.”

A Summer Full of Golf Opportunities

The Summer Tour will include camps and classes at several local courses, including Swenson Park, The Reserve at Spanos Park, Greenhorn Creek, and Escalon Golf Course.

At Swenson Park, summer camps will be offered for children ages 7–11 and teens ages 12–17, with sessions scheduled throughout June and July. Additional Saturday classes will also be offered for older youth and age-based groups.

Greenhorn Creek will host summer camp sessions in June and July for all age groups, while Escalon Golf Course will offer a Thursday class for ages 7–12 beginning in June.

Tournament Highlights

Several special events are scheduled throughout the year, giving young players and families a chance to enjoy the game together. Upcoming events include:

  • May 30: Spring Wrap-Up Tournament at Swenson Park

  • June 7: Ernie George Memorial Tournament at Elkhorn

  • August 2: Summer Wrap-Up Tournament at Swenson Park

  • October 4: Golf Marathon at Swenson Park Par 3 / Mini Golf Course

  • October 31: Halloween Tournament at Swenson Park

  • October 31: First Tee Championship at Swenson Park

The Halloween Tournament will feature an Adult/Child Scramble format, while the First Tee Championship will recognize individual boys and girls champions.

Fall Tour and Winter League

The Fall Tour is scheduled to begin the week of September 7, with six classes planned at multiple locations. Programs will be offered at Swenson Park, The Reserve at Spanos Park, Micke Grove, Greenhorn Creek and Escalon Golf Course.

A special bus trip to the Pure Insurance Championship is also scheduled for September 19, giving participants another opportunity to experience the broader world of golf.

The season will continue into the colder months with a Winter League running from November 28 to January 27 at Swenson Park on Saturdays.

Helping Kids Become “Game Changers”

For First Tee San Joaquin, the focus is not only on teaching golf mechanics, but on helping young people develop the tools they need for life. Whether a child is picking up a club for the first time or already building competitive skills, the program offers a welcoming space to learn, grow and connect with others.
