One of the world’s most beloved ballets is set to enchant Stockton audiences as the World Ballet Company brings its stunning production of Swan Lake to the historic Bob Hope Theatre on Friday, February 13.
A timeless masterpiece that has captivated audiences for more than a century, Swan Lake weaves a powerful story of love, betrayal, and transformation. The ballet follows Prince Siegfried as he meets Odette, a young princess cursed to live as a swan by day. As Siegfried pledges his love and vows to break the spell, deception enters the story in the form of Odile — the alluring Black Swan — leading to heartbreak and tragedy in one of ballet’s most emotionally charged finales.
The World Ballet Company’s production brings a fresh energy to this classic, combining refined classical technique with cinematic staging and theatrical flair. Audiences can expect unforgettable moments, including the iconic Dance of the Little Swans and the dazzling Black Swan sequence, complete with the famed 32 fouettés — all set to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s sweeping, instantly recognizable score.
Now in its fourth full season, the World Ballet Company has quickly become one of the nation’s premier touring ballet companies, performing in more than 180 cities across over 40 states each year. Known for making ballet accessible and exciting for audiences of all backgrounds, the company features a diverse international roster of professional dancers and bold original choreography that reimagines classical works for today’s audiences.
The performance takes place at the Bob Hope Theatre, a crown jewel of Downtown Stockton. Originally opened in 1930, the beautifully restored theatre offers an intimate setting where ornate architecture meets modern sound and lighting, creating a truly magical backdrop for a production as grand as Swan Lake.
Tickets start at $43 and are available through the Adventist Health Arena Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. With its breathtaking choreography, dramatic storytelling, and world-class performers, Swan Lake promises to be an unforgettable evening of elegance and emotion for ballet lovers and first-time audiences alike.
