The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s was hosted on the University of the Pacific Campus on Saturday, October 19th. Over 100 teams and 1,104 participants joined the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual walk in Stockton, and exceeded its fundraising goal by $10,000.

Twelve of Lodi’s top Tempranillo producers will be celebrating International Tempranillo Day during the weekend of November 15-17, 2019. This is the 4th year of this special passport weekend focused on tasting the best Tempranillos produced and grown in the Lodi Appellation. Lodi produces over 100 different varieties of wine grapes and in 2015 was selected as “Wine Region of the Year” by the Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Tempranillo is recognized world-wide as being one of the most important Spanish varieties and is gaining a foothold in the Lodi Appellation. Participants can visit any one of the participating wineries to collect a complimentary guidebook and begin their exploration of the Lodi Tour of Tempranillo. Each winery will offer special tastings of Tempranillo and some special reserve wines only available at this event. Participants will be entered in a raffle for each winery they visit. A group of volunteers are holding a Poinsettia Sale to benefit the New Life Programs of the Gospel Center Rescue Mission. The beautiful plants are perfect for gifts to friends, clients and vendors. The Heat are seeking to push the 13 year fundraiser total to $300,000 as part of their 15 years of hockey in Stockton celebration. November 5, 2019, marks 40 years of care for Hospice of San Joaquin – the first non-profit hospice agency serving San Joaquin County. We are excited to begin this celebration by hosting an Open House at our Stockton Campus (Home of Hospice House) on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 12:30pm to 4:30pm. A ribbon cutting with the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce will be held at 3:00pm.

Get rid of unused or expired medications on drug take-back day
On Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the San Joaquin County Opioid Safety Coalition, Safe Kids San Joaquin County, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. And for the first time, people can dispose of their vaping devices and cartridges with batteries removed.
