City of Stockton’s Residential Clean Sweep Program Returns – Schedule Your Free Pickup!

The City of Stockton is proud to announce the return of its annual Residential Clean Sweep Program, a free bulky waste pickup service available to residents living in single-family homes, duplexes, or triplexes within city limits. The program runs February through October, offering residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of large household items and help keep Stockton clean.

First Human Case of West Nile Virus in San Joaquin County in 2024

San Joaquin County Public Health Services has confirmed a West Nile Virus (WNV) infection in San Joaquin County. This is the first confirmed human case in the county for 2024, and the 28th reported human case in California for this year. The 57-year-old male Stockton resident has received medical services at a Sacramento area healthcare facility.

Fred Ewald Jantz

Fred was born January 29, 1942 in East Prussia. His father died in the WWII battle of Stalingrad, and so in 1951 Fred, his older brother, Rudy, and mother, Lydia, immigrated to Los Angeles to live with an aunt. There Fred enrolled in school, learning English by immersion. Three years later, Lydia remarried, and they moved to Orange County. Fred graduated from Western High School in Anaheim in 1960, and then went on to Biola College in La Mirada, California to earn his BA Degree. During this time, Fred also served as part-time Youth Pastor at his home church, Magnolia Baptist in Anaheim, where he met Kathy. After Fred and Kathy were married in 1965, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where he completed an MDiv. Degree in Biblical Studies at the North American Baptist Seminary.
