The City’s Annual Budget is adopted before the beginning of each fiscal year, which is July 1. The Stockton City Council holds Strategic Priority Sessions and receives periodic updates starting in January. The six-month City Council process ends with Budget Study Sessions and the process is complete when the new budget for the upcoming fiscal year is adopted.
This year, the Council Budget Study Session for the Proposed Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20 will be held, Thursday, May 30, beginning at 7:30 p.m., and will continue Friday, May 31, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Meeting information will be available at www.stocktonca.gov/councilmeetings.
Community members who are curious about how the budgeting process works or what is included in the City’s budget are welcome to attend a preview session of the Proposed Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2019 – 20 on either Thursday or Friday. City staff will provide the same information at both meetings. The preview sessions will be held:
- Thursday, May 30, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., or
- Friday, May 31, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Both sessions will be held at City Hall, Council Chamber, 425 N. El Dorado St., 2nd floor.
