Emergency Food Bank Stockton/San Joaquin Selected for Rare America250 Food Donation
One of only 250 food banks nationwide to receive a historic 40,000-pound delivery honoring America’s 250th anniversary
As the United States prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, a local organization is receiving national recognition for its vital role in fighting hunger.
The Emergency Food Bank Stockton/San Joaquin has been selected as one of only 250 food banks nationwide to participate in a historic America250 service initiative, led in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The nationwide effort symbolizes unity, service, and a shared commitment to strengthening communities across the country.
As part of this initiative, the Emergency Food Bank will receive a semi-truck carrying 40,000 pounds of donated food, including canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, meats, flour, pancake mix, and dried milk. The food will be distributed locally in collaboration with St. Mary’s Dining Hall and the Gospel Center Rescue Mission, ensuring it reaches families and individuals facing food insecurity throughout Stockton and San Joaquin County.
Much of the donated food is produced by the Church and funded through member contributions dedicated to humanitarian efforts.

"We are honored to be one of only 250 food banks selected nationwide to receive this America250 gift. These 40,000 pounds of food will make an immediate and meaningful difference for thousands of local families."
Community partnership is at the heart of the initiative.
"We are grateful to support the Emergency Food Bank, St. Mary’s Dining Hall, and the Gospel Center Rescue Mission through this America250 donation," said President Clark Francis of the Stockton Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "Organizations like the Emergency Food Bank strengthen and uplift our community. Their compassion and commitment to serving families reflect the very spirit of America250."
The Emergency Food Bank joins other organizations across the country that have already received America250 deliveries, including food banks in Oregon, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas—all united in the mission to help neighbors in need.
As Stockton prepares to welcome this historic delivery, the moment serves as a powerful reminder that community service and compassion remain at the core of the American story—250 years strong.
