Second Annual Kids Take Over Stockton Arena, WE PAINT the Ice Night

The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have revealed the dates for the Second Annual Kids Take Over event along with WE PAINT the Ice Night and the Painted Classic.

Kids Take Over Stockton Arena will take place Sunday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. when the Thunder host the Idaho Steelheads. Members of the Thunder’s Kids Club (12-years-old and younger) may apply and perform a number of different jobs with the team including running the Thunder Twitter account, helping usher people to their seats, learning about and riding the Zamboni, operating the goal horn, and much, much more.

Three-year Season Ticket Holders attending the game will receive the second set of Thunder trading cards while the first 500 fans will also receive the collectible.

The painted ice event that started the national phenomenon returns Tuesday, December 30 at 7:30 p.m. when the Thunder face off against the Ontario Reign. Following the game, the young fans will be invited to paint their artwork on the ice.

The first 500 fans on WE PAINT the Ice Night receive a Thunder magnet with all three-year Season Ticket Holders in attendance also receive the giveaway.

The colorful ice will be revealed and played on New Year’s Eve during the Painted Classic, beginning at 6:00 p.m. against Ontario. Following the game, fans are invited to “Skate with the Thunder ” on the colorful creation!

The three-year Season Ticket Holders who attend the New Year’s Eve game will receive a WE PAINT the Ice Night poster while the first 500 fans will also receive the poster “worthy of the Museum of Modern Art”!

Fans can take advantage of the special “Kids Trio Plan” where you get four Lower Premium tickets to all three games plus two youth Replica Giveaway Jerseys for only $200. This package is available online to the first 20 fans and expires August 15.

Last year, 845 fans helped the Thunder become the first team to ever allow fans to paint their ice surface and play a regular season game on the painted ice. Since the Thunder initiated the event, the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, the Central Hockey League’s Arizona Sun Dogs, and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and Minnesota Wild have all held similar events inspired by the Stockton original.

The ice became a big hit on social media, blogs, and news outlets after being picked up by local news, CNN, ESPN, NHL on NBC, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, SB Nation and many more. You can learn more about the first Painted Classic and see all the coverage on StocktonThunder.com.
