Nathan Johnson
Nathan Johnson will be featured artist of the month for October. Nathan is a painter who enjoys blending the traditional techniques of watercolor and acrylic painting with digital techniques used to create texture art for video games.
Nathan ‘CrookedWolf’ Johnson is a painter who enjoys blending the traditional techniques of watercolor and acrylic painting with digital techniques used to create texture art for video games. He believes that even though fantasy is defined by being not real, it is built with pieces of real experiences from our senses. When Nathan creates an image those pieces used say a lot about what is important to him and how he wants to organize the experience of a chaotic world.
Initially planning to be a video game artist creating textures and environments for players to navigate Nathan shifted to working as a currency trader after being educated about the world of market trading. Many of his biggest artistic influences are illustrators that have worked for Blizzard Entertainment and Games Workshop. He also takes inspiration from an active community of anthropomorphic artists and enthusiasts, often inspired by how much time and effort other artists put into their craft.
Nathan is a member of the Stockton Art League and a regular participant in two California anthropomorphic art conferences, Califur in Irvine and Further Confusion in San Jose. Recently he has won 1st Place Award for Digitally Enhanced Photography in the 52nd Lodi Spring Art Show and 2nd Place Award for Mixed Media in the 2012 Art Buzz Collection.

Lisa Cooperman
Lisa Cooperman – Curator of Education at the Haggin Museum will demonstrate her art using reused and recycled materials, Investigated for both their innate beauty and reference to the excess of waste that this culture produces, she creates structured wall-hung forms that evoke blankets, tents and other types of shelter.
Artist/Educator
Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lisa Cooperman lived in Maine, New York, London, Los Angeles and Bozeman, Montana before moving to Stockton. She is a sculptor with an active exhibition schedule; her work has been seen in national and international shows, including the Affordable Art Fair in Los Angeles, and for the past seven years at the A.I.R. Gallery in New York where she had her first solo show in May of 2010.
With an MFA in Sculpture and Metalsmithing from Montana State University, her work has always focused on reused and recycled materials. Investigated for both their innate beauty and reference to the excess of waste that this culture produces, she creates structured wall-hung forms that evoke blankets, tents and other types of shelter. In them the vibrant colors of produce mesh and floral wrap hum with a kind of eccentric minimalism.
In her current position as Curator of Education at the Haggin Museum, Cooperman is responsible for public programming, including tours, music, gallery talks, art workshops, family events and community outreach. She also implements museum interpretation in the form of exhibition planning and interactive displays in temporary shows. She is also a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of the Pacific.
