The Stockton Cargo SC showed grit on the road Sunday afternoon, snapping a two-game losing streak with a hard-fought 1-1 tie against Oakland Soul SC.
The draw moves Stockton to 2-2-3 in the 2026 USL W League season and gives the Cargo an important point as they continue a challenging stretch of league play.
Stockton came out strong in the first half, controlling much of the possession and creating opportunities around the Oakland goal. Despite the early pressure, the Cargo were unable to finish their chances, and the match went into halftime scoreless.
The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when Hannah Diaz once again delivered for Stockton. Diaz split the Oakland defense and calmly slid the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Cargo a 1-0 lead. The goal marked her fourth of the season and the 16th of her Stockton Cargo career, further adding to her place as one of the club’s most reliable attacking threats.
Oakland responded with urgency, pushing numbers forward and putting the Cargo defense under heavy pressure. Nine minutes after Diaz’s goal, Shea Murison found the equalizer during a scramble in front of the net, tying the match at 1-1 in the 72nd minute.
From there, Stockton goalkeeper Amanda Leal stepped up in a big way. Leal made several high-pressure saves down the stretch, finishing with seven saves on the day and helping preserve the road result for the Cargo.
The tie gives Stockton a chance to reset and build momentum as the club continues its road schedule this week. The Cargo return to action Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. in Pleasanton against Pleasanton Rage SC. Stockton previously defeated Pleasanton 3-0 at home earlier this season.
The Cargo will then return home Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m. to face Sacramento rival California Storm SC.
