Stockton Unified School District is opening the door for families and community members to take a more active role in conversations about student safety, belonging and academic success.
The district has launched its 2026-27 Town Hall Series, a set of community meetings focused on issues that directly affect students and families across Stockton. The first event, School Safety & Belonging, will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2026, followed by additional town halls on English learner achievement, special education success and other district priorities.
The series gives parents, guardians and community members an opportunity to hear directly from district leaders, learn about programs and initiatives, and engage with topics that shape students' day-to-day experiences in school.
Safety and Belonging Take Center Stage
The first town hall will focus on School Safety & Belonging, two subjects that have become increasingly connected in education.
Stockton Unified says student safety and well-being remain a top priority, and the district continues to invest in safe and welcoming learning environments, mental health services, school safety staff, upgraded facilities and stronger communication with families.
The district also maintains programs focused on bullying prevention, peer support, mental health and student connection. Its PLUS Program, for example, uses trained student leaders to help promote inclusion, restorative conversations and peer-to-peer support while addressing issues such as bullying, school violence and other risks.
That makes the idea of "belonging" more than a slogan.
A student who feels connected to classmates, teachers and school can be better positioned to participate, ask for help and succeed academically. The September 17 town hall gives families a chance to learn more about how Stockton Unified is approaching those challenges.
More Conversations Are Coming
The town hall series continues throughout the fall.

- September 29: English Learner Achievement & Success
- October 1: Town Hall Event
- October 20: Special Education Achievement & Success
The September 29 meeting will focus on English learners, while the October 20 town hall will address achievement and success for students receiving special education services. The district has also posted materials in both English and Spanish for the series.
Together, the meetings reflect a broader effort by Stockton Unified to strengthen communication with families and involve the community in district decision-making.
Giving Families a Voice
Stockton Unified has identified stronger family and community engagement as one of its priorities for the 2026-27 school year.
Superintendent Dr. Michelle Rodriguez has emphasized a "Whole Child, Whole Family, Whole Community" approach, along with expanded student supports, safer campuses and stronger communication between the district and families.
The town hall series provides a practical way to put that goal into action.
For parents, it is an opportunity to better understand district programs and ask questions about subjects that may directly affect their children. For educators and administrators, it provides another way to hear community perspectives and concerns.
