Families looking for a safe and festive way to celebrate Halloween can mark their calendars for Trunk O’ Treat, coming to Micke Grove Regional Park on Friday, October 9, 2026.
Presented by San Joaquin County Parks, the event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Micke Grove Zoo parking lot and will bring together more than 50 businesses, agencies and organizations with decorated vehicles ready to hand out candy to children.
More Than Just Trick-or-Treating
Trunk O’ Treat is designed to give families a full evening of Halloween fun in one location.
In addition to rows of creatively decorated cars, children can take part in crafts and games, pumpkin decorating and other activities, while food trucks will be on site for families looking to grab dinner or a snack during the event. And, of course, there will be plenty of candy.
The setting gives the event a community feel, with local businesses, public agencies and nonprofit organizations all participating together.
For parents, it offers a structured alternative to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating. For children, it is a chance to dress up, collect candy and enjoy Halloween activities in a festive environment.
Registration Is Required
Because organizers expect a strong turnout, Trunk O’ Treat is a pre-registered event only.
Guest registration opens online on Monday, September 21. The cost is $10.50 per vehicle, and registration will close once capacity is reached. Registration links will be posted through the San Joaquin County Parks website and its Facebook and Instagram pages.
Families interested in attending may want to register early once the link becomes available.
Micke Grove Regional Park and Zoo will close at noon on October 9 before reopening later that afternoon specifically for Trunk O’ Treat.
A Community Effort
San Joaquin County Parks is also accepting candy donations in advance of the event.
Donations can be dropped off on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin County Park Office inside Micke Grove Regional Park.
That community participation is part of what makes Trunk O’ Treat more than just a Halloween activity. It brings together families, local organizations and public agencies for an evening centered on fun, creativity and community involvement.
