October 17 and 24 bring championship battles to Wilson Way, with trailer racing and drifting adding a twist to the second Saturday.

There is a different kind of tension at a race track when the season is running out of laps. Every pass has a little more meaning, and every finish becomes part of the story drivers will carry into the winter.

Stockton 99 Speedway is preparing for two Saturdays of championship action on October 17 and October 24, giving local fans a chance to see that story unfold at 4105 N. Wilson Way.

The two programs offer different lineups. Together, they make a case for keeping a little space on the October calendar for an evening at the track.

October 17: Four Divisions, One Championship Night

The organizer’s Championship Night #1 listing names Late Models, Legends of 99, FKS Mini Modifieds and Grand American Modifieds.

Main gates open at 5 p.m., with racing scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The event listing runs through 9:30 p.m.; race-night schedules remain subject to change.

For a first-time visitor, the variety offers a useful introduction. Different cars and divisions bring different shapes, sounds and rhythms to the same pavement. For returning fans, the appeal is the chance to follow familiar competitors as the championship season reaches its decisive stretch.

No driver has to be declared a favorite before arriving. Sometimes the fun is finding someone to root for once the racing begins.

October 24: Championships Meet a Little Chaos

The speedway is promoting its second Saturday as Championships & Chaos. The current event description lists Pro Late Models and Pure Stocks, along with trailer racing and drifting.

That creates a different flavor from the first night: championship competition paired with a spectacle built around trailers and sideways driving.

The October 24 organizer listing has gates opening at 4 p.m., racing at 6 p.m. and the event ending at 9:30 p.m. Check the speedway’s official site and its linked ticket page for the latest program before choosing a night.

Fans interested in a particular division should use the current event announcement rather than assume every class will appear on both Saturdays.

A Family Night With Clear Admission Choices

Both organizer listings advertise free grandstand admission for children age 10 and younger, plus free parking.

October 17 cash gate prices are $20 for adults ages 16–59; $15 for juniors ages 11–15, seniors 60 and older and military guests with ID; and $55 for two adults and two juniors. Card prices are $20.60, $15.45 and $56.65 respectively.

October 24 cash gate prices rise to $25, $20 and $70 for the same groups and family package. Card prices are $25.75, $20.60 and $72.10. Online ticket fees are additional.

Those details help families compare the outing before arriving. Plan separately for concessions or other purchases, and check the ticket terms that apply to the date you choose.

Know the Track Before You Go

A little preparation can make a grandstand evening more comfortable.

The speedway’s visitor FAQs describe aluminum bench seating without backs and recommend seat cushions, blankets and warm clothes. Outside food and beverages are not permitted, except for one unopened plastic bottle of water per person.

The track lists accessible grandstands and restrooms, with designated accessible parking near its ticket booths. Guests with specific access questions can contact the speedway at 209-466-9999 before attending.

For families with children who are sensitive to loud sounds, bringing suitable hearing protection is a sensible preparation for motor racing.

Two Chances to Make a Saturday Night Memory

Watching racing in person is a shared experience. People follow the same cars into a turn, react to the same pass and compare what they saw as the field comes around again.

For a child discovering the sport, one favorite car may be enough to turn an unfamiliar evening into an ongoing interest. For longtime spectators, championship nights offer another chapter in a local racing routine.

Choose the lineup that appeals to you, check the latest schedule and arrive with time to settle in before the engines take over the evening.
