Cleaning out a closet, replacing furniture or finally tackling that garage full of items you have been meaning to donate just got a little easier in Stockton and throughout the San Joaquin Valley.

Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley has partnered with veteran-founded Resupply to offer courier pickup of usable household donations directly from residents’ homes, giving donors a new option when dropping items off is not convenient.

Resupply was founded by veterans in 2015 and has grown from its military roots into a service designed to help charitable organizations collect donations more efficiently. Through the partnership, residents can schedule a trusted driver to come directly to their home to pick up eligible items.

“This partnership makes it easier than ever to donate to Goodwill,” Denise Ost, chief executive officer of Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley, said in the announcement. “Resupply can come directly to your home and pick up your donations.”

Same-Day Pickup May Be Available

Residents interested in scheduling a pickup can visit goodwill-sjv.org and select the Donation Pickup option.

For eligible same-day courier service, donors may contribute up to five bags and/or boxes and must be able to bring the donations directly to the driver when they arrive. Resupply can also collect larger items—including furniture, household appliances and other heavy items—for a fee.

That added convenience could be especially helpful for residents who have usable furniture or bulky household items they would like to donate but do not have a vehicle large enough to transport them.

Donations Help Fund Local Job Programs

The new pickup option is about more than convenience.

Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley operates 14 retail stores from Lodi to Visalia, and proceeds generated through the sale of donated goods help fund workforce development programs for people facing barriers to employment.

Every usable item donated to Goodwill has the potential to begin a second life—first by being resold to another household and then by helping support employment opportunities in the community.

For those who prefer the traditional approach, Goodwill will continue accepting donations at its 15 drop-off donation sites throughout the region.

Goodwill also operates an e-commerce site in addition to its retail stores, giving shoppers another way to support its programs. Information about donations, job programs and shopping is available through Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley’s website.

For Stockton-area residents who have been putting off a donation because loading up the car—or moving that old couch—felt like too much work, the new Goodwill and Resupply partnership may provide the nudge they needed.

Your unwanted household items could now be just a pickup away from becoming someone else’s useful find—and helping create employment opportunities along the way.
