The Reynolds Gallery is kicking off the 2026-2027 academic year with a burst of color, texture and contemporary creativity.

Bespokeology 2.0, an exhibition featuring textile paintings and constructions by Clarksburg artist Julia Couzens, opens today and will remain on view through September 25.

The exhibition showcases Couzens' distinctive approach to textiles, blending elements of painting, sculpture and construction into hybrid works that challenge traditional ideas about fiber and fine art. Her work transforms fabric, thread and other materials into expressive objects that are as much about form and structure as they are about color and surface.

Bespokeology 2.0 is a new edition of an exhibition first presented at the Patricia Sweetow Gallery in Los Angeles in April 2026.

Couzens' drawings and hybrid objects have been exhibited nationally and internationally, and her work is also featured in the recently released book TEXTILES X ART: How Textiles Are Shaping Contemporary Art, published by Thames & Hudson in July 2026.

For local art lovers, the exhibition offers an opportunity to experience the work of a nationally recognized regional artist without leaving the area.

Meet the Artist September 3

The Reynolds Gallery will host a celebratory reception on Thursday, September 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will include a short talk by Couzens, giving visitors an opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her work, process and ideas behind the exhibition.

The reception is open to the public.
