Halloween fun and career exploration are coming together at San Joaquin Delta College as the college prepares for its 5th Annual Fierce’s Fall Fest: CTE ROCKS! on Friday, October 2. The free, family-friendly celebration will transform Delta College’s Stockton campus into an afternoon of costumes, candy, music and hands-on opportunities to discover potential careers.
From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., families can enjoy safe trick-or-treating, games and activities, a costume parade and live music featuring Bananafish. There will also be plenty of candy, and parking for the event is free. Delta College describes Fierce’s Fall Fest as one of the largest public trick-or-treating events in the region.
But this is more than a Halloween celebration. The CTE ROCKS! theme puts Career Technical Education at the center of the festivities, giving children, teens and adults opportunities to participate in hands-on CTE experiences, explore career possibilities and connect with Delta College programs and industry partners. Delta College’s CTE and Workforce Development programs are designed to prepare students with skills that can lead to employment while helping meet the workforce needs of local and regional industries.
For parents of middle and high school students, the event provides a casual way to introduce young people to career pathways they might not otherwise know about. Instead of simply reading about programs or careers, families can explore them together while enjoying a community Halloween celebration.
Fierce’s Fall Fest is sponsored by Delta College’s Career Technical Education (CTE) & Workforce Development Division and Directing Adults on the Right TrAC for Employment (DARTE). Costumes are encouraged, and families are invited to bring everyone along for an evening that combines Halloween traditions with a glimpse at future educational and career opportunities.
