The dream ride has paused—but not before making history. The Stockton Cargo SC wrapped up a legendary 2025 season Sunday night, falling 2-0 to Utah United in the USL W League Western Conference Final.
It was a match filled with heart, hustle, and heated controversy. First-half goals from Utah’s Kaylie Chambers and Seven Chastain—helped by a highly questionable penalty call just before the break—ultimately sealed the Cargo’s fate.
The second half brought even more drama, as the Cargo fought hard to turn the tide. But the momentum was halted not by the opposition, but by referee Kevin Lewis, who made his presence known with red cards to both Head Coach Marek Albert and the team’s medical professional—igniting frustration among fans and players alike.
Despite the heartbreaking finish, the 2025 campaign will go down as the most magical in club history. The Cargo completed an undefeated regular season, clinched the USL W NorCal Division Title, and secured their first-ever USL W League playoff berth. They also dominated the local scene with a fifth straight win in the 209 Clásico, proving their strength and pride in every match.
Stars emerged throughout the season. Mika Sayfurahman and Vanessa Penuna earned USL W Team of the Month honors, while veteran Hannah Diaz etched her name into club history books as the all-time leading goal scorer.
But perhaps the most powerful stat of all? The Cargo inspired a city. They became heroes for the next generation of Stockton athletes—especially the young girls and boys who filled the stands and dreamed bigger with each match.
The season may be over, but the fire is only getting started. The Stockton Cargo SC isn’t done—they’re already setting their sights on 2026. And this time, they’re coming back stronger than ever.
Stockton Strong. Cargo Proud. See you next season.
