Stockton’s Entertainment Venues Pump $38.7 Million into Local Economy

A new study confirms what many in Stockton already feel on event nights: the city’s entertainment venues are more than just places to catch a game, concert, or show — they’re powering our economy.

According to an economic impact report conducted by CSL International, Adventist Health Arena, Bob Hope Theatre, and Stockton Ballpark generated a combined $38.7 million in economic activity during Fiscal Year 2023. Together, the three venues hosted over 200 events, welcomed 300,000 attendees, and created a ripple effect of spending that reached businesses and families across the community.

A Rising Economic Powerhouse

The report shows that between July 2022 and June 2023, the venues contributed $25.6 million in direct spending (tickets, concessions, local purchases) and an additional $13.1 million in indirect and induced spending, such as hotels, restaurants, and retail.

Mayor Christina Fugazi hailed the findings:

“When we said we'd make Stockton an economic powerhouse again, we kept our word. These numbers prove Stockton is rising up, and with 375,000 people choosing to spend their time and money in our city, the whole region is taking notice.”

More Than Entertainment

Beyond dollars, the venues are fueling jobs and community support. The study reported $9.8 million in personal income for roughly 450 local employees. Visitor data showed a healthy mix: 49% locals from San Joaquin County, 28% day-trippers, and 23% overnight visitors — a big win for hotels and tourism.

Robyn Camino, CEO of Visit Stockton, called the venues “economic engines,” noting:

“With more than $38 million in annual impact and over 300,000 attendees in a single year, these venues play a vital role in our tourism strategy.”

Giving Back to Stockton

In 2024 alone, ASM Global, which manages the venues, contributed more than $186,000 to local nonprofits through concession programs and direct donations. The team logged 1,518 volunteer hours, donated toys, food, and tickets, and helped schools like St. Mary’s High School raise critical tuition funds.

Lori Green of St. Mary’s High School shared her gratitude:

“Without this opportunity, St. Mary’s would have to turn away 20% of our families who need help in funding a Catholic education. I want to express my gratitude and appreciation.”

Looking Ahead

Events are already back to pre-pandemic levels, and revenues have more than doubled since 2019. With ASM Global now under the ownership of Legends Hospitality (affiliated with the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys), Stockton’s venues are positioned for even greater growth and recognition on the national stage.

From concerts at the Bob Hope Theatre, to baseball under the lights at Stockton Ballpark, to major events at Adventist Health Arena, Stockton isn’t just entertaining — it’s thriving.
