A Morning of Movement With a Purpose: Stockton 5K Puts Diabetes Awareness in Step

The Healthy Leo-Lions Club invites runners and walkers to Michael Faklis Park November 14 for a community health awareness event.

Event date: 11/14/2026 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Export event

A walk with a friend can begin with a simple question: shall we get outside? In Stockton this November, it can also start a conversation about a health issue that touches families across the community.

The Stockton Healthy Leo-Lions Club will host its Diabetes Awareness 5K on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Michael Faklis Park. The run and walk begins at 9 a.m.

The organizer welcomes people of different fitness levels, giving residents a way to join the occasion without making speed the only measure of a successful morning.

A Shared Reason to Move

The club describes the gathering as part of its work to encourage physical activity, increase diabetes awareness and support community connections.

That combination gives the outing a purpose beyond the finish line. Someone may come for the timed run, while someone else may prefer to walk alongside a relative or friend. Both can share in an event centered on awareness.

For residents considering their first organized 5K, the distance also offers a clear, familiar goal: five kilometers, or about 3.1 miles. Walking is part of the invitation, rather than an afterthought.

What Runners and Walkers Can Expect

According to the registration page, the event will use chip timing. Custom medals are planned for the first 100 registered entrants who cross the finish line.

Registration options include an in-person entry with or without a T-shirt and a separate virtual option. Current prices and fees are listed on RunSignup; residents should review the options before choosing an entry.

The in-person event is listed from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration is scheduled to close November 11 at 6 p.m., and the organizer says the gathering will proceed rain or shine.
