Just In Time for Christmas

Thanks to customers, merchants and volunteers at Stockton’s Lincoln Center, many people in our community will enjoy Christmas just a little bit more this year. The center’s food, coat and sock drives, which have been taking place at Christmastime for three years now, brought in thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of coats and socks.

The Stockton Thunder (13-8-0-3) travel south to take on their Pacific Division rivals the Ontario Reign (17-3-1-3) tonight at Citizens Business Bank Arena. It’s the first of three games in three nights between the two squads with both teams traveling to Stockton for a meeting on Saturday night before returning to Ontario for a Sunday match-up. The puck drops tonight at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Weekend Getaway: Fiddletown and Plymouth make for interesting foothill stops on historic Highway 49

Travelers on historic Highway 49 will be familiar with Plymouth, CA, but less so with Fiddletown, just eight miles east off 49 following the Fiddletown Road.  The two towns, just 60 miles from Stockton, are rich in history and offer explorers a wealth of interesting Gold Rush sites, shops, restaurants and wineries ripe for the touring!  And, at 1,000 feet elevation, both are generally well below the Sierra foothills snowline, making sunny winter days the perfect time to tour!

Celebrate Completion of the Corridor!

Members of the public are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate completion of the Sperry Road Extension Project, which provides a connection between State Route 99 and Interstate 5. The ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., tomorrow, Thursday, December 19, 2013, weather permitting, on the east side of the French Camp Road Interchange with Interstate 5.
