Cliff Johnston Feature Artist: March 2013

Reception, Saturday, March 9th 4-7 pm

Over the years Cliff has been doing one type of art work or another.  During the 1960s he was doing metal sculpture of different types, shapes and sizes.  Also during that time he was working with wood which he enjoyed as much as his metal work.

In the late eighties metal sculpture lost its favor to the public, and he went back to just his wood.  After his retirement in 2004 he went to work full time at his love of working in wood.  He opened his studio on Cherryland Ave. in Stockton shortly after retirement.  He also took up water color painting and took instruction from Evelyn Wright for a number of years.  He later took instruction from Regina Rose in oil painting.

Cliff shows his painting and wood works at art shows throughout the county areas with wood being the most showed.  He has received many awards for his wood working pieces.  He continues to expand his wood work which includes abstract sculptures, and has added a little of his metal work to a few of his wood sculptures.  He continues to expand his areas of work in hopes of finding a new area to excite him to continue to move forward into new and better projects.

Cliff continues to show his work at the Stockton Art League at 1902 Pacific Ave. Stockton CA along with many more wonderful artists.
