Stockton Cargo SC Earn First Shutout of the Season in 3-0 Win Over Pleasanton Rage SC

The Stockton Cargo SC found their finishing touch in the second half and delivered their strongest all-around performance of the young season Saturday night, defeating Pleasanton Rage SC 3-0 in front of 503 fans at Sanguinetti Field at St. Mary’s High School.

The victory gave the Cargo their second consecutive win and improved their 2026 USL W League record to 2-0-2. It also marked two major milestones: goalkeeper Braidlynn Mott recorded her first clean sheet of the season, while Alexandra Rios scored the first goal of her Cargo career.

After a scoreless opening half, Stockton broke through in the 53rd minute when Rios finished a chance set up by Camila Palafox. The goal not only put the Cargo ahead, but also marked the first time this season Stockton scored the opening goal of a match.

From there, the Cargo kept the pressure on.

In the 67th minute, Hannah Diaz doubled the lead with her second goal of the season and the 14th of her Cargo career. Reigning Division Player of the Year Mika Sayfurhaman provided the assist, helping Stockton take control of the match.

The final goal came in the 88th minute when Janelli Villagran reacted quickly to a loose ball in the box and slotted it home for her second goal of the season, sealing the 3-0 result.

While the attack came alive after halftime, Mott and the Cargo defense made sure Pleasanton never found a way back into the match. Mott finished the night with seven saves, earning her first shutout of the season and helping Stockton post its most complete defensive effort so far.

The Cargo have now scored eight goals this season, with all eight coming in the second half. Saturday’s win continued that trend, as Stockton once again showed patience early before taking command after the break.

Stockton will look to keep its unbeaten start going on the road this Wednesday, June 3, in an important USL W NorCal Division matchup against rival California Storm SC. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. airtime and can be watched on SportsEnginePlay.com.

The Cargo return home Wednesday, June 10, at 7 p.m. for their first-ever “Education Night” game against Monterey Bay FC, presented by California Resources Corporation/Carbon TerraVault. The evening will feature educational activities throughout the night. Tickets are free for school-age children and an accompanying adult and can be redeemed with the code STEM at www.stocktonsc.com.
