The Stockton Cargo SC began their 2026 USL W League season right where they left off — competing hard, showing resilience, and finding a way to keep their regular season unbeaten streak alive.
The defending 2025 USL W NorCal Division Champions opened the new season on the road with a 1-1 tie against Monterey Bay FC Sirens in front of a near-capacity crowd at Cardinale Stadium in Monterey.
Monterey Bay struck first in the 37th minute when Brianna Castleberry found the back of the net to give the Sirens a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
But the Cargo answered quickly after the break.
In the 49th minute, Maleah Evans delivered a powerful shot into the top right corner, evening the match at 1-1 and giving Stockton the spark it needed. Both teams continued to create scoring opportunities, but neither side was able to break through again before the final whistle.
One of the biggest stories of the match was the performance of Cargo goalkeeper Braidynn Mott, who came up with an impressive 15 saves to help preserve the draw. Her effort in net proved to be the difference in keeping Stockton from opening the season with a loss.
With the result, Stockton Cargo SC continues its 14-game regular season unbeaten streak, a strong reminder that this team remains one of the top competitors in the NorCal Division.
The Cargo now return home for their highly anticipated home opener on Saturday, May 16, when they host San Juan SC at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s High School.
