Book lovers and aspiring young writers both have a reason to head to San Joaquin Delta College on Oct. 3, when Tuleburg Press hosts Wordstock209 at Dolores Huerta Plaza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The festival lineup includes guest speakers, book readings, poetry open mics, book sales and signings, and book arts workshops, along with food trucks, a photobooth and raffles and prizes.
Wordstock209 also caps off Tuleburg Press's youth writing contest, open to 7th through 12th graders, ages 12 to 18, who live in San Joaquin County. Entrants submit one original poem or short story by Sept. 12, and a winner will be chosen in each of two categories, middle school and high school. Winners perform their work live at the festival.
The event is presented with support from San Joaquin Delta College, the California Arts Council, the Stockton Arts Commission and Community Medical Centers.
