One of Stockton’s most beloved cultural traditions is making its return to the downtown waterfront.
The 54th Annual Barrio Fiesta Stockton will take over Weber Point Events Center on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., bringing a full day of Filipino food, music, dancing and community celebration to the heart of the city.
Admission is free.
Presented by Friends of Barrio Fiesta Stockton, the festival celebrates the Filipino culture and history that have played an important role in shaping Stockton and the Central Valley.
Visitors can expect Filipino favorites including lumpia, pancit, adobo, barbecue skewers, halo-halo, turon and other festival foods, along with live entertainment throughout the day.
The program will feature local musicians, dance groups, cultural performers, martial arts demonstrations and other presentations highlighting Filipino traditions. Local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups will also be represented throughout the festival.
A Celebration Rooted in Stockton History
Barrio Fiesta has been part of the Stockton community for more than five decades.
The celebration is closely connected to the legacy of Stockton’s historic Little Manila neighborhood and the generations of Filipino immigrants, farmworkers, families and community leaders who contributed to the development of the region.
Organizers describe this year’s event as an opportunity not only to celebrate Filipino pride, but also to introduce those traditions to new generations and to visitors from throughout Northern California.
There will also be family activities, merchandise vendors, art, cultural displays and opportunities to support local businesses and organizations.
And you don’t have to be Filipino to join the celebration. Organizers are emphasizing that Barrio Fiesta is intended to welcome the entire community.
