Free community event in Lodi will honor veterans with Avenue of Flags, Field of Flags, rifle salute, dove release and Missing Man Formation flyover

Cherokee Memorial Park & Funeral Home will continue one of the region’s most meaningful Memorial Day traditions with its 86th Annual Memorial Day Event and Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Lodi. The free public event will honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States, while also recognizing veterans and active-duty members of the Armed Forces.

Each year, Cherokee Memorial Park becomes a powerful place of remembrance, filled with patriotic displays and quiet moments of reflection. A centerpiece of this year’s event will be the 69th Annual Avenue of Flags, featuring 1,044 full-sized American flags lining the roadways throughout the park.

In addition, more than 8,500 veterans’ burial sites will be marked with small American flags, and 40 war hero burial sites will receive special recognition.

The park will also feature several moving tribute displays. The Field of Flags will include 7,057 flags honoring combat veterans who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Walk of Valor Flag Tribute, located in the Garden of Freedom, will honor 43 local combat veterans who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Memorial Day Service will include guest speaker Sergeant First Class Sarom Teiv, U.S. Army, Retired, along with special musical performances, including the Stockton Portsmen Chorus.

The ceremony will also feature a traditional rifle salute, a dove release, and a patriotic flyover by the Patriotic Fliers in a Missing Man Formation, a solemn aerial tribute often used to honor fallen service members.

For families, veterans, and community members, the event offers a chance to pause, remember, and give thanks. Cherokee Memorial Park’s Memorial Day service has become a long-standing local tradition, bringing people together in gratitude for those who served and sacrificed for the nation’s freedoms.

The event is free and open to the public.
