The smell of methanol and the roar of 900-horsepower engines return to the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds this September, as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series brings two nights of dirt track racing to the Stockton Dirt Track.
The Dennis Roth Classic runs Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, and honors Dennis Roth, whose Roth Motorsports operation has been tied to Sprint Car racing in the region for decades. Fans will see the World of Outlaws' stars go wheel to wheel against California's best Sprint Car competitors on the track's fast turns.
The 410 cubic-inch winged Sprint Cars at the center of the action weigh roughly 1,400 pounds and produce close to 900 horsepower, a combination that makes them among the fastest cars in motorsports. Both nights include qualifying, heat races and a feature event as drivers race for position and the Dennis Roth Classic title.
Organizers are encouraging fans from across the Central Valley and Northern California to make a weekend of it, since the series rarely travels this close to home.
