Stockton residents are invited to roll up their sleeves, plant trees, create art, and help beautify one of the city’s public spaces during a special community event at Louis Park next month.

Tree Stockton is hosting “Show Up for Louis Park,” a Clean California transformational event set for Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Louis Park, 3121 Monte Diablo Avenue in Stockton. The event celebrates National Hug a Tree Day while bringing neighbors together for a morning of hands-on service and community pride.

According to Tree Stockton, the west end of Louis Park will be refreshed with paint, trees, plants, and litter cleanup, creating a more welcoming space for local families and visitors. Volunteers will have the chance to help with trash pickup, tree planting, community art, planting native species, and removing invasive plants.

The event is designed to be welcoming and accessible for the whole community. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate, making it a great opportunity for families, service groups, and neighbors to come together and make a visible difference in Stockton.

Tree Stockton will also provide refreshments, giveaways, breakfast, volunteer projects, and a pizza celebration at noon, adding a festive community spirit to the day’s work. Participants are asked to meet in the parking lot west of the softball complex before heading to the boat ramps, and organizers say Tree Stockton signs will help guide volunteers to the right spot.

Families looking for a full day of fun can make it a double outing. After helping at Louis Park, parents and children can head over to Children and Families Day at Pixie Woods, where admission will be free that day.

Organizers recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and bringing gloves, sunscreen, and a hat for the outdoor workday.

Those interested in participating can register at treestockton.org and are encouraged to bring friends, family members, or volunteer groups.

Tree Stockton’s mission is to preserve, protect, enhance, and grow Stockton’s urban forest through education, stewardship, and community involvement. Events like this one not only improve public spaces, but also help strengthen neighborhood connections and community pride across the city.
